NDs as Primary Health Care Practitioners

Naturopathic Doctors, NDs, are trained as primary health care providers. Our educational training requires us to have a minimum of seven years post-secondary education, including three to four years of university pre-medical sciences accompanied by a subsequent successful completion of an accredited four-year naturopathic medical program. We are Medically Trained, Naturally Focused.

Naturopathic Education

North American wide standardized licensing exams are necessary in order to secure proper board certification, registration and licensing within the Naturopathic Profession.

NDs are licensed to assess, diagnosis, prevent and treat disease and illness using a variety of modalities. Our scope of practice includes laboratory testing in order to confer a clinical diagnosis.

Naturopathic Medicine is the art and science of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease using natural therapies. Our unique training allows us to bridge the gap between eastern and western medicine, art and science, and traditional and conventional practices. We can act independently or along side in conjunction with your medical practitioners. No referral to Naturopathic Medicine is required.

In order to graduate as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, NDs must complete:
