Naturopathic Healing Principles

Primum No Nocere: First Do No Harm

Illness serves a purpose.

It challenges the organism to react and stimulates the inherent ability of the body to rid itself of the offender.

It is the process of the body’s attempt to heal itself that generates symptoms, which are in fact, the expression of the vital force attempting to heal itself.

Therefore the therapeutic actions of the physician are designed to facilitate the organisms' expressions, by supporting the system and treating the root cause, without the suppression of the body's self-regulating processes which could create a deeper illness if blocked.

For true healing to unfold, we must cooperate with the healing forces of nature and support the system in a manner complimentary to the natural laws of healing.

Vis Medicatrix Naturae: The Healing Power of Nature

The body has amazing inherent abilities to establish, maintain and restore health.

This healing process is ordered and intelligent and mirrors the response of the life force within and around us, mimicking the ebb and flow of the natural laws of nature.

The physician’s role is to facilitate this process by re-balancing and re-animating the life force in order to re-establish a healthy internal and external environment using gentle natural therapies to match the intensity of the illness and by cooperating with the healing power of nature in its infinite wisdom and expression.

Tolle Causum: Identify & Treat the Cause

Illness occurs via cause and effect. The symptoms expressed during an illness mirror the body’s attempt at self–regulation through the elimination of toxic exposures.

Causes may occur on any level, whether it be on the physical, mental, emotional or spiritual planes, or a combination of the aforementioned.

The role of the physician is to discover the underlying causal factors of the manifestations of illness and treat the ailment on the level in which it first took root.

The treatment is then tailored to address the fundamental roots of said illness and is maneuvered and guided in the direction of how it disturbed the organism on the various planes from which it ensued.

The naturopathic physician resolves to address the fundamental causes of illness through all permeations of the whole of the being and in the reverse order of its manifestations.

Tolle Totum: Heal the Whole Person

Health and illness are a complex interplay of multiple factors affecting the human organism as a whole.

The physician must approach these concerns using a comprehensive approach to harmoniously balance the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being in order to evolve a disease process back towards its inherent state of health.

The mental thought patterning and the disturbance of spirit behind the illness must be respectfully acknowledged and factored into the unification of the wholeness of the individual in order to shift the terrain on which the disturbance is expressed.

To heal the whole person through individualized tailored plans that evolve with you and match your progress in the evolution back towards health, wholism and vitality.

"The art of healing comes from nature, not from the physician. Therefore the physician must come from nature, with an open mind." - Paraselsus (1493-1541)

Docere; Doctor as Teacher

A respectful and cooperative doctor-patient relationship has inherent therapeutic value.

The role of the physician is to educate and encourage patients to take responsibility for their health by teaching the principles necessary for transforming illness towards health. The physician helps navigate the patient into alignment with their vital force.

This then, becomes the catalyst for empowering positive changes directed towards the healing process.

The physician guides and evolves the course of treatments to match and support the patient throughout the steps along their journey.

The naturopathic physician respects the laws of nature and mirrors these natural laws in the journey towards health.
