MicroNutrient Levels Test

Vitamin & Nutrient Assessment Tests

Nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids are key determinants of health. They are the building blocks of our physiology and they direct and govern our biochemistry. It is important to assess underlying nutritional levels to both treat and prevent disease.

It is commonly thought, that taking a daily multi-vitamin may provide all the specific nutrients in the correct amounts to support our daily requirements. The truth of the matter is that not all supplements are created equally. Not all vitamins or minerals itemized in these daily multis are in a bioavailable form to sustain our needs and do little to build up our reserves.

We offer an array of tests to determine both specific and comprehensive nutritional profiles.

Are You Getting Enough Vitamins & Nutrients?

At Evolve Naturopathic Vitality Centre, we offer comprehensive micronutrient testing in the evaluation of an individual’s overall health status.

The MicroNutrient Test is a clinically effective diagnostic tool used for both the prevention and management of chronic diseases. Evidence based medicine is finally catching up and confirming that specific nutritional deficiencies have been demonstrated to suppress immune function and alter endogenous metabolic pathways leading to chronic diseases.

Key nutrients are essential in balancing and supporting biochemical pathways within the body in order to maintain health and optimal performance. This comprehensive micronutrient test measures the actual levels of selected vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other essential micronutrients inside white blood cells. It is a simple blood test derived to identify concrete intracellular nutrient concentrations and provides key insights into the underlying cellular mechanisms of how these micronutrients are functioning inside the cells and over time.

Interferring Factors

Understanding specific nutrient deficiencies provides key insights into the development and implementation of a specific tailor made treatment protocol to correctly balance and refuel the system to address deficiencies for optimal organ health and cellular function.

This test is also beneficial for people who take over-the-counter supplements or medications. Many supplements are not properly formulated and there is direct competition for micronutrients at various receptor sites throughout the body. Additionally, many pharmacological drugs complete, interact or deplete specific nutrients which can lead to further health problems when these nutrients are not properly balanced.

Other Nutrient Tests

An Immunidex score is also provided as a component of the Micronutrient Testing panel. This score is used to evaluate the performance of an individual’s cell-mediated immune system and tangibly measures T-cell lymphocyte proliferation.

The immune function is a systemic measure of general health, and illustrates whether an individual is capable of responding efficiently or not to exogenous threats like pathogens or allergens, as well as to endogenous threats like tumours.

The immune system is comprised of both cell-mediated (Th1) and humoral (Th2) components. Without proper correction of micronutrient deficiencies, an individual’s immune system can be altered and undermined leaving one more susceptible to infections and illness.

Since the immune system is dependent on the intracellular availability of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, correcting the specific micronutrient deficiencies typically raises the Immunidex score and contributes to tangible clinical health benefits and a Th1/Th2 balance. Balancing nutrient profiles with corrective nutritional focus provides critical protection and health promotion. It is important to determine proper supplementation dosing regimes to balance specific nutrient profiles and to support immune health.

Spectrox Assessment:

Spectrox Assessment:

This component of the micronutrient test provides valuable information on the underlying antioxidant status of your overall system.

Hs-Omega Test for Essential Fatty Acids:

This blood test measures the amounts and corresponding ratios of healthy and inflammatory fatty acids present in your red blood cell membranes.

A 12 hour (overnight) fast is required to obtain proper results. Healthy fatty acid levels are essential for preventing heart disease, balancing your moods and maintaining health. (Click on this link to learn more on Essential Fatty Acid Testing…)

Urinary Vitamin C Test:

This non-invasive test assesses your urine for the presence of Vitamin C, one ofthe most important vitamins in your body. It helps determine proper nutrient levels of Vitamin C and appropriate levels of supplementation.

Zinc Tally Test:

This is a quick and simple “taste test” used to determine a person’s physiological levels of Zinc.  Zinc is one of the most important minerals implicated in the overall maintenance and health of your immune system and the regulation of over 300 enzymes involved in various metabolic systems.
